J.K. Chua’s Journey as an Author and Coach
My journey as an author began not with ambition, but with a deep calling—one rooted in my survival post-cancer diagnosis, self-discovery, and a desire to transform pain into purpose. My first book, “Understanding: The Doctor Saved My Life Twice”, is a gripping, personal account of two critical moments when medical and my own physiological understanding—more than medication alone—saved my life. It underscored a key insight: when patients truly understand their doctors, and when communication flows both ways, healing can happen on a much deeper level. This became the foundation of my lifelong commitment to clarity, empathy, and transformative conversations.
This foundation led me to share my story in “Pebbles in the Pond: Wave 4”, a global anthology by transformational leaders and changemakers. My contribution offers a deeply personal reflection on life purpose, surrender, and rebirth as a revitalized individual, showing how life’s turning points can ripple outwards to inspire and uplift others. It marked my evolution into a voice for global change, conscious leadership and self-discovery.
My third book, “Cancer: From Tears to Triumph”, chronicles my emotional and spiritual journey through cancer. More than a survival story, it’s a compassionate guide filled with vulnerability, hope, and practical wisdom for those facing life-threatening illness. Through it, I reaffirmed the importance of growth mindset, emotional resilience and the support of a family network and caring community.
My fourth book, “The Big Book Idea”, is a practical and inspirational guide for aspiring authors who want to turn their live experiences into a legacy. More than just a book-writing manual, it introduces the principles of design thinking in 5 phases — Empathy, Define, Ideate, Prototype and Test—as tools to help readers design not only their books, but also a more intentional life or purpose-driven business. It reflects my belief that engaging storytelling and design thinking are twin engines for personal transformation, self-expression, and creating impact for others.
These books are not just chapters of authorship—they are stepping stones in J.K.’s journey of becoming a transformational coach.
